OVSARDA will respond to requests for assistance
from official agencies, such as police and fire departments. If you
are interested in learning more about OVSARDA before an emergency

standard, capabilities and support requirements, and to arrange

If requesting immediate support to a search,
please have available as much information as possible relating to the
nature of the search, to the type of terrain and the logistical
support available on site.
Once called out, OVSARDA members will normally be en route
to the search area within 20 minutes. Our members come from Ottawa and environs.
Members going to a search will bring along a 24 hour bag, containing everything
they need to be self-sufficient in the field for 24 hours. They will also have
a 3 day kit, again containing everything the individual needs for 3 days.
OVSARDA is also equipped with 4 hand held radios,
GPS and a boat for water search.
Have you lost your pet?
OVSARDA dogs are trained to detect and pursue human scent only. They are trained to ignore all animal scents at all times. As such, OVSARDA dog teams cannot assist you in your search for a missing pet.
